Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma on Wednesday stressed on setting up an organic fertilizer unit in the Melagarh for better involvement of locals towards a self-reliant economy.
He said, “Possibilities should be utilized wisely. If there is a possibility to set up a unit of organic fertilizer, it is necessary to do it accordingly”.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who presided over a review meeting of the Melagarh municipal council also said, “Active participation of SHG groups is the most important thing right now to focus on. Every SHG group and individual connected with the group has to achieve self-reliance through their activities”.
The Minister who also holds the Finance portfolio said, “We have to ensure that the purchasing power of rural masses can be increased. We also have to bring a positive change in the way of development. The development in villages and towns are needed to be equitable”.
Apart from the Deputy Chief Minister, elected representatives of the council along with higher officials also attended the meeting. Chief Executive Officer of the council apprised the minister regarding the figures of beneficiaries of different government schemes.
