As many as 4 people died today due to the Covid 19 pushing the total death toll to 21 along with 222 new Covid 19 cases, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb informed the media through his social media posts.
The sudden surge in the Covid 19 cases and fatalities due to this, seemed to have forced the government to be extra cautious in disseminating information related to the Covid 19 as presumably, it could trigger panic among the people.
The matter came to the forefront after the state government did not disclose any information related to four Covid 19 caused deaths on Monday and still its conspicuous silence on the deaths took place on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the deadly Covid 19, of late, also started targeting the Covid 19 warriors weakening the line of defence as Sepahijala police super Krishnendu Chakraborty and DM CK Jamatia tested positive to the Covid 19 on Tuesday.
Sources said, along with CK Jamatia, 6 more officials of the DM office also tested positive and a lot of the officials were yet to be tested. “As soon as the District Magistrate tested positive, most of the officials who used to stay in close proximity to the DM have undergone tests and 6 of them tested positive. Altogether, 80 samples have been tested at Bishalgarh sub-divisional hospital among which 11 reports come positive. Apart from DM, SP and the officials, 3 samples have been collected from the field survey”, SDMO Bishalagrh told this correspondent.
Both the SP and DM had been shifted to home quarantine as per the revised guidelines of the state health department.
Nevertheless, the East Agartala police station also opened its account in the Covid 19 tally after one police person tested positive on Tuesday. Highly placed police sources said, “Contact tracing process has been initiated to trace the close contacts and soon there will be according steps. All the police personnel have been asked to act according to the Covid 19 guidelines”.
