Tripura to have its first ever Weekend Tourist Hub opened from July 30 next in front of the Agartala Ujjayanta Palace, said tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday.
Addressing a press conference here at the civil secretariat on Friday, Chowdhury said that the weekend tourist hub will be open on every Saturday and Sunday of a week from 4 pm to 9 pm during the summers and 3 pm till 8 pm during the winters. He said that the weekend tourist hub will include cultural programmes to shed lights on the local artists of the state. Several food stalls will also be set up centering the weekend tourist hub.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha accompanied by the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder and others officials will inaugurate the programme on July 30 to open the weekend tourist hub, which aims to entertain the tourists of the state and abroad, he added.
No vehicular movement would be allowed from Sherawali Sweet Corner to Rabindra Bhawan Chowmuhani and Jackson Gate traffic point during the weekend tourist hub.
“Proper police deployment would be made to maintain law and order. Besides, CCTV cameras will be installed and strict vigil will be maintained from the watch tower,” he added.
