CM asks officials to intensify monitoring to tackle pandemic

After GBP hospital in the city, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb now visited several healthcare units and Covid Care Centres in Unakoti and North Tripura districts to assess the ground reality of COVID19 situation on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister asked the officials concerned to take initiatives for eliminating the shortcomings while instructing the district administration and health machineries to intensify monitoring to tackle the situation as well as to ensure better service.

As part of his visits, the Chief Minister also held important meetings with local administrative and health officials in both the districts.

At Kumarghat, the Chief Minister announced that the old district hospital of Kumarghat would be transformed into Covid Hospital in three days and it would have beds with oxygen facility.

He also stated that the fund had already been sanctioned for purchase of Dialysis and CT scan equipment at old Kumarghat district hospital and initiative had been taken to so that the equipment reaches here at the earliest. Besides, he stressed on increasing the number of beds at Kumarghat Covid Care Centres.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also attended a party programme while visiting Kumarghat where he encouraged the party men to play an active role during this COVID19 pandemic.

As announced earlier, the state government already started providing cash Rs. 1500 to the persons in home isolation, the Chief Minister said and also asked the officials concerned to ensure delivery of oximeters to the home isolated patients having symptoms.

The Chief Minister also held a separate meeting with the administrative and health officials at Dharmanagar where he passed an instruction for setting up of new 15—bed Covid Care Centre. It would comprise 10 general beds and five beds with an oxygen supply facility.

The Chief Minister accompanied by others also paid a visit to Kailashahar to review the latest COVID19 situation. While visiting several Covid Care Centres, the Chief Minister also held discussions with the officers in charge and other staff.

He suggested to engage people from Disaster Response Teams in case of shortage of manpower in ensuring better service.

Meanwhile, according to an official release, the Chief Minister passed an instruction to the special secretary for engaging the TRTC’s drivers in case of shortage of ambulance drivers.

Our Kumarghat correspondent adds: In an attempt to strengthen Covid care system in districts as well as bolster people’s confidence, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb visited the dedicated Covid Care Center at Kumarghat today.

During his Kumarghat CCC visits, DM and SP of Unakoti district, CMO and other officials were present during his visit. Social welfare Minister Santana Chakma accompanied Deb.

Urging health personnel to work with a mental attitude of serving people, Deb said every death is unfortunate and painful and we have to control the disease at any cost. Dereliction of duty will not be tolerated. There are several constraints in delivering health care services. While the State Government is working to meet the deficiencies, health workers should make maximum use of resources available for serving people, Deb said.

Both the local people and CCC inmates are hoping that Deb’s visit will help Unakoti district Hospital and Kumarghat CCC to provide better care and services at this critical time.
