Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday urged everyone to maintain the cleanliness of the state and appealed to refrain from using single-use plastic.
Dr. Saha said this after participating in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in celebration of the 155th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in front of Ujjayanta Palace.
"The way we are conducting the Swachhata Abhiyan, people should also maintain cleanliness in their hearts and minds. We are working to make Tripura a Plastic Mukta state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised many things that will be fulfilled gradually. Everything cannot be achieved in one day. I ask for everyone’s cooperation. We must avoid using single-use plastic, and we are working on it. We are also striving to keep the state and city clean. The Agartala Municipal Corporation has been awarded at the national level twice. We are keeping a close watch on everything. We are addressing the basic problems of the people," he said.
Dr. Saha mentioned that the BJP has undertaken several social initiatives, which began on September 17.
“These programs started on September 17, in celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday. Keeping three legends in focus – PM Modi, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, and Mahatma Gandhi – the BJP has organized many social events. Today is the final day.”
Additionally, Dr. Saha informed that the BJP's target for its membership drive in Tripura is 12 lakh, which will be achieved, and the membership in 2019 was around 6.5 lakh.
Dr. Saha also extended his best wishes for Mahalaya and Durga Puja, saying, "In childhood, we used to eagerly wait for Mahalaya. Maa Durga has arrived. Everyone eagerly await for Durga Puja, which is our biggest festival. I want to wish everyone a happy Durga Puja and urge everyone to celebrate this festival peacefully."
During the event, Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, Corporator Ratna Datta and others were present.
