Allegation of involvement some ruling party leaders with smuggling of Urea fertilizer raised while Leftist leaders gave up the business after the change government in the state.
Sources said that Urea fertilizer was used to smuggle to Mizoram through Damcherra crossing the Dasharath Deb bridge of Damcherra. The big traders used to invest fund for fertilizer smugglers. The urea smuggled to Myanmar through Mizoram with three times more cost depriving the farmers of the state.
The then Agriculture Superintendent of Damcherra and Damcherra Police Station provided necessary assistance to smugglers. In the meantime one trader of Damcherra turned into multi millioner.
After the change of government in the state the smuggling suspended due strict action of new government. Meanwhile the smuggling started at full swing from last month. However the smugglers are being patronized by leaders of ruling party now.
Mandal Secretary of Panisagar and some ruling party leaders of Dharmanagar are allegedly involved with the business.
