The situation of Khowai town turned violent centering an attack CPI-M workers on BJP worker of cultural cell today.
Sources said that a group of 25 to 30 CPI-M workers led by MLA Nirmal Biswas and Subdivision Secretary Padma Kumar Debbarma went to collect subscription for flood victims of Kerala. But a group of youth backed by ruling party prevented them not to collect subscription.
Immediately a hot altercation took place between both the parties. Later a BJP worker of cultural cell was attacked by the CPI-M workers when they were going towards the party office after suspending collection of subscription.
The incident sparked violence in the town. Additional contingent of police has been deployed in the town to tackle the situation. SP also went to the spot to manage the situation.
Sources said that police filed a case on the basis of complain of Shibabrata Roy who was attacked by CPI-M. The case filed under case number 03/18, u/s 307/325/34 of IPC.
Meanwhile police arrested three CPI-M workers including Tutan Ghosh, Litan Ghosh and Chandan Ghosh. They will be produced in the court tomorrow.
Mandal president of Khowai BJP Subrata Majumder strongly condemned the incident. Meanwhile Shibabrata Roy has been referred to G.B. Hospital for better treatment.
