A digital taste of over 500 year-old Tripurasundari temple opens online ‘darshan’ for devotees

Over 500-year-old Tripurasundari temple, a shrine in Tripura popular for being one of the 51 Shaktipeethas of the Hindu religion at Udaipur in Gomati district of the state got to have a digital look with Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also the Chairman of the Tripurasundari Matabari Trust opening a web portal to facilitate the devotees of the state and abroad.

The newly opened portal – tripurasundari.tripura.gov.in is aimed to facilitate the devotees from the state and the rest of the parts of the country with online ‘darshan’ of the deity in the temple. The portal would also help attract more devotees and tourists, leading to growth in religious tourism and generate jobs, said Deb.

Launching this web portal Deb told reporters, “Devotees can now offer prayer online through this portal’s live streaming daily from 11:30 am to 01:00 pm. Moreover, devotees from the state can avail the facility of special prayer from 04:00 am to 05:00 am through online booking.”

He also said that the portal will accept online donations for Tripurasundari temple ensuring transparency. Deb however slammed the previous Left Front government over the donation system and said, “The donation made by the devotees faced questions in the past. To ensure that transparency is maintained in the whole process, we have launched the official website for the Tripurasundari temple.”

Meanwhile Deb said, “The union tourism ministry has sanctioned Rs. 38 crore under ‘Swadesh Darshan & Prasad’ scheme for the overall development of the Tripurasundari temple which includes the construction of foot over-bridge, ropeway from the Udaipur rail station to the temple, beautification, and others.”
