AGARTALA:

For the first time the polling continued against the stipulated time and moved on more due to technical glitches in EVMs and newly installed for the first time in the state VVPAT machines.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday at around 9 pm, the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sriram Taranikanti informed, "The state record 78.56 percentage of vote casted till 9 pm this Sunday."

He said, "Polling is still underway at 100 polling stations of this state."

He further informed, "191 VVPAT and 148 EVM machines were found technically glitched from different corner of the state today and later those were replaced and pit in place."

Meantime he informed, "No untoward incidents were being reported from anywhere during the poll today except some minor incidents."

However, initially the polling delayed during the morning hours due to the glitches in EVMs and VVPATs. The polling was supposed to kick off from 7 am but in most of the places it started almost one hours later.

The CEO said, "The main error has come up in the link between the EVMs and the newly installed VVPAT machines."
