As many as 526 voters from 152 families in Bagbasa assembly constituency in North Tripura district had quit the opposition CPI-M party and joined the ruling BJP party on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb welcomed the newly joined voters at a function and said that during the last 25 years of the Left rule, the government was functioning based on its party, but now the government is working for the people of the state.
“During the 25 years rule of the Left front government, only 48000 houses were provided under the Indira Awas Yojna scheme in the state of Tripura and now during the last 4 years of the BJP government 2,25,000 houses were already provided under the PM Awas Yojna scheme,” Deb claimed.
The Chief Minister slammed the opposition CPI-M party and said, “Earlier during the rule of Left front the poor people were made poorer in the name of deprivation and lack of fund, but now in its historic decision government has decided to hike the social pension from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2000 for each beneficiary. This will be implemented before the upcoming Durga puja.”
He, however, said that earlier due to lack of positive mentality the state of Tripura was lacking behind the rest of the parts of the country. “The GBP hospital was earlier labeled as a referral hospital for the namesake, but now the hospital is widely known due to its successful complex surgeries.”
Due to the fast-growing development of the state, people are losing their trust in other parties and are coming forward to join the ruling BJP party in Tripura, Deb claimed.
