United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate Synshar Kupar Roy Lyngdoh Thabah on Saturday won the Sohiong Assembly constituency in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district by defeating his nearest opponent Samlin Malngiang of the National People's Party (NPP) by a margin of 3,422 votes.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has conceded defeat in the Assembly elections even as the final announcement of the election results was awaited on Saturday. He said that the BJP will comeback in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

The counting for the Karnataka assembly began at 8 a.m. and soon after, Congress workers were seen in festive mood as they danced to bhangra tunes at the party headquarters with dhol and nagaras.

The countdown for the 2023 state Assembly election results has begun in Karnataka. The strong rooms were opened at 7 a.m. on Saturday and the process of counting will begin at 8 a.m. amid elaborate security arrangements.
