Governor CV Ananda Bose, on Monday sent a communique to the state Secretariat Nabanna, asking the West Bengal government to immediately remove Kolkata Police from security duty at Raj Bhavan.

Different teams attached to the state government and the Indian Railways started rescue operations at the site between New Jalpaiguri and Rangapani station where two compartments of the Kanchanjungha Express got derailed after being hit by a goods train.

The Sealdah-bound Kanchanjungha Express collided with a goods train on Monday between New Jalpaiguri and Rangapani stations in West Bengal. The last two compartments of the Kanchanjunga Express, which had started from Agartala, were derailed after being hit by the goods train.
