A police team that reached the office of slain gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad in Chakia on Monday morning for a routine investigation, was shocked to find a blood-stained knife and clothes in one of the rooms.

Lovelesh Tiwari, Sunny Singh and Arun Maurya, the three assailants who gunned down mafia-politician Atiq Ahmad and his younger brother Khalid Azeem a.k.a Ashraf here on April 15, had come to Lucknow before reaching Prayagraj by bus to carry out the killings.

Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who is now in the BJP, said: "Sonia Gandhi did call me up and asked to intervene following which I called the district administration and consequently Atiq Ahmed pulled back in that case."
