Karnataka Congress government’s decision to build a bronze statue of late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at a cost of Rs 1.05 crore here, has stirred a debate in the party.

Three persons, including a dance teacher, were arrested on charges of gang-raping a college student in Kodigehalli police station limits in Bengaluru, police said on Tuesday.

National Commission for Women (NCW) member Khusbu Sundar said on Thursday that the Karnataka Police have acted as per law in connection with the case of video recording of a Hindu girl while using the restroom by Muslim girls at the Nethra Jyothi Para-Medical College in Udupi.

Judge Manjula Itti of the Mangaluru Fast Track Special Court-1 passed the order on Wednesday against the 33-year-old accused teacher Prithviraj, who had sexually assaulted the minor boy between August 1, 2014 to September 2, 2016.

The police in Karnataka have been accused of harassing a woman activist's family after she raised her voice against the incident of filming of Hindu girls by some Muslim female students in a college restroom. 

Five people have lost their lives due to rain related tragedies in different regions of Karnataka as heavy rain threw life out of gear and flood water inundated the residential areas of Kushalnagar and Belagavi cities.

Karnataka Police on Saturday seized 1,500 kg of ganja worth Rs 12 crore and arrested two persons, including an MBA graduate, in Bengaluru. According to the police, the prime accused in the case is the MBA graduate from Rajasthan.
