BJP meets IPFT over alliance for ensuing crucial poll

AGARTALA:

The Bharatiya Janata Party under the leadership of Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma on Wednesday evening met the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) activists lead by N C Debbarma at the state guest house over alliance and seat adjustment for the crucial assembly election.

The IPFT General Secretary Mevar Kumar Jamatia said, “The BJP cleared an alliance with the IPFT and now we shall move to Guwahati on January 18 to talk with the top BJP leaders there over seat adjustment.”

He also informed, “The main agenda of making an alliance with the Saffron party is to defeat the ruling CPI-M and oust its Left front government from Tripura.”

On the sideline of the ‘Twipra Land’ issue, Jamatia said, “The BJP party has nothing to do with our demand as we have approached the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.”

He said, “We have full faith on central ministers over fulfilling the demand of IPFT’s demand of ‘Twipra Land’.” He also said, “The core committee has already been formed while we met PM Modi at Delhi, hence the committee shall decide the fate of separate state demand.”

“On January 18 a five members’ team of IPFT shall fly for Guwahati to meet other BJP leaders there where the Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma shall also remain present and we shall talk over the seat sharing now for the upcoming assembly election.”

However, during the meeting today the BJP state President Biplab Deb and other remained present.
