1000 BJP workers led by Mujibur join Cong at Agartala

AGARTALA:

About 1000 BJP workers led by former State president of NSUI Mujibur Islam Rahaman joined Congress at densely populated Congress Bhavan today. PCC president Birajit Sinha welcomed the new comers led by Rahaman in presence of Secretary of AICC Bhupen Bora and MLA Gopal Roy.

Meanwhile former president of Sadar District Congress Committee Tapan Dutta (Subrata) failed to join Congress along with his friend Mujibur as his mother died in last night. In a press statement he also announced to join Congress today leaving the communal politics of BJP.

Speaking to Congress leaders and workers Rahaman said that he was not feeling easy after joining BJP. The leaders and workers had no value to the Pradesh leadership of BJP. He said, “Congress gave me respect and nominated NSUI president and my forefathers were also Congress supporters. My father was minister of Congress ruled government. I returned to Congress which party nominated me to contest against Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in Dhanpur constituency. So I am feeling like coming back home after returning Congress”, he added.

PCC president Birajit Sinha said, Congress will show another stunt at the beginning of the New Year. Some heavyweight leaders of BJP will directly join to Congress. He said, we do not involve in politics for occupying power only. We want to maintain principle in politics. Referring himself an artisan of repairing broken house he said, Congress gave a lot of opportunity to me. Now it is the time to repay the loan. I would not be able to lose ideology by shifting one party to another. Congress gave them identities who are commenting against Congress after leaving the party. He expected that they would also come back to Congress in future.
