In yet another major embarrassment for the state health administration, the state's prime referral hospital - GB Pant Hospital's canteen has been shut down by the food safety department on Friday for allegedly serving 'unhygienic' food to the patients and party.
The incident took place after the food department jointly with the civil west district administration, police and Municipal Corporation has conducted a raid inside the canteen and found unhygienic vegetables, oil, and other cooking stuff.
Sadar District Magistrate (SDM) of West Tripura district Ashim Das said, "While conducting the raid we have found absolutely unhygienic food stored inside the canteen which are very dangerous for the patients of the hospital and general public."
"We have collected a sample of those unhygienic cooked food and shut down the canteen for the time being," adding to this Mr. Das also said, "We have also conducted raid in several other hotels and restaurants in GB area and collected the sample to take a note of the quality of food items."
However, the incident has triggered serious panic among the patients and party inside the GBP hospital which is considered to be the state's prime referral hospital after the hospital's canteen is shut down.
