Two arrested in six year old child murder case, sent for 3 day police remand

Police officials of Dharmangar police station today arrested Sourabh Debnath (19) and Dibakar Das (20) in connection with the murder case of six year old girl child, a day after the horrific incident came to light. A Scooty was also seized from the possession of Dibakar which was learnt to have used during the crime.

Both the accused were, later, produced before the districts session Court seeking a seven day police remand. The court pronounced three day police custody and directed to produce them once again on June 21 next. 

SDPO Dharamanagar Rajeev Sutradhar while speaking to the media said, “We have produced both the accused in the district session court seeking seven day police custody today. But, the district session judge granted 3 day police remand, they will be once again produced before the Court on June 21 next.”

On the other hand, an agitated mob being excited with the spread of news set the residence of Sourabh Debnath on fire. Reportedly, the victim girl used to stay at Sourabh’s how use as tenant. And, he had tricked the girl and took her to the crime scene along with his friend Dibakar Das.  

According to the SI Ratan Rabi Das of Dharmanagar Police Station, police got informed by the locals that an excited mob, in the fit of rage, ransacked the residence of Sourabh, one of the accused in the six year old murder case. After damaging properties, the mob set the house ablaze. The house was reduced to ashes within an hour. Police and TSR teams were sent overpower the mob and handle the situation, he told this correspondent. 

Meanwhile, a team of BJP Mohila Morcha rushed to the victim family and later on to the SDPO office. The team of Mahila Morcha leaders asked for exemplary punishment for the predators at the earliest. The delegation of leaders comprises—Vice President Sachi Rani Tripura, General Secretary Ratna Sinha, Seretray Manidipa Bhattacharjee and local leaders Malina Debnath and Rupali Adhikari.
