TSR shift is for bringing professionalism: CM

AGARTALA:

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday clarified the doubts and speculations over the shifting of some TSR battalions outside Tripura.

“The TSR personnel would not be sent to exile; rather they will have opportunities to acquire more skills and experience while performing duties in other states,” said Deb referring to some news items on shifting of TSR battalions outside.

The Chief Minister who also holds the portfolio of Home department said this after inaugurating a newly-constructed administrative building of 1st-Bn TSR in Gokulagar headquarters, Sepahijala district.

“I requested Union Power Minister to take few TSR battalions from Tripura for deployment in projects outside the state and a process on shifting of TSR Jawans is already underway.

The Jawans will get exposure and gain confidence during their stay outside the state,” the Chief Minister said.

While encouraging the force to discharge their duties in proper way, Deb said “the image of government is created by the activities of police stations—the responsibilities are highest on the shoulder of policemen.”

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister decided to visit various camps across the state on random basis and interact with the Jawans to motivate them so that they never feel lonely and isolated.

“The Jawans stay away from their family members and constantly perform duties for 8 to 9 hours a day. Keeping this view in mind, I decided to pay visit to various TSR camps on random basis and interact with the Jawans so that they get motivated,” Deb said.

The Chief Minister stated, “if the Jawans don’t get proper support, they would gradually lose mentality of thinking or doing something new amid frustrations.”

“If Chief Minister and officials visit and interact with the Jawans, they will feel relaxed and it will result in positive vibration. Besides, it will also ensure a new spirit in the administrative system,” he said while acknowledging the role of TSR in maintaining Law and Order.

Director General of Police (DGP) A.K. Shukla along with officials and unit personnel of 1st-Bn TSR also remained present in the inaugural ceremony.
