Hundreds of students hailing from various parts of the country who took admission in Tripura University this year are facing serious uncertainty over their future academic career as they are still clueless about the schedule of the programmes they got admitted.
Reportedly, four new courses--Tourism Administration, Liberal arts, Performing Arts and Archaeology and Ancient culture, have been introduced in the University from this academic year. And, students from entire North East and some parts of Eastern India applied for these courses through entrance exams. The process of admission in lieu of a good amount of fees is almost complete. But, the students have very little idea that their plight has just begun.
Sources in the University said, the university has not started the process of recruiting teachers for the newly introduced courses yet. The admission process has ended only. Soon the teachers will be recruited following which the classes will start.
This revelation from the part of university, however, triggered massive tension among the students. Speaking to this website, students alleged, if the university has not recruited teachers yet than we cannot understand as to why they invited applications of admission from students. Now hundreds of students like us, who have submitted the fees have no other way but to wait till the University take any steps.
However, University insiders said, the main reason behind such irregularities is the severe fund crunch. The MHRD already slapped several notices to the University regarding fund related issues and in near future the varsity will even face difficulties to match up its expenditure, the sources added.
