Tripura Sports School continued their winning streak as today they defeated Maharashtra by 2-1in the ongoing Subrata Mukherjee cup Boy’s football tournament. At Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi Tripura played dominantly from the beginning and did not allow the opposition to stay in the match. With this win Tripura also kept their hopes alive for a place in the quarterfinal as Uttarakhand is the other team stayed in hunt.
Both Tripura and Uttarakhand have 7 points each from the three matches that they have played but among goal difference, Uttarakhand is ahead from Tripura. In this situation Tripura has to defeat Bihar by a healthy margin which will be played tomorrow. On the other hand in today’s match Uttarakhand defeated Bihar by a huge margin of 5-0. Tripura have to play their best till now so that they can make their dream place in the quarterfinal of the tournament.
From the start of the match Tripura played attackingly as in the 13th minute of the match Sanjay Jamatia scored the opening goal with his own skills. But 6 minutes later Maharashtra scored the equalizer. In the 29th minute Biswajit Debbarma scored the second goal and the lead stayed till the end as Tripura won by 2-1. At the end of the match Coach Abu Taher said that tomorrow’s match will be a do or die tie for them and the players will give their best in the match.
