The Northeastern states of Tripura is branding and promoting it's bamboo made water bottles and glasses to replace single-use plastics in the 39th India International Trade Fair that has begun here on Thursday at Delhi's Pragati Maidan.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has inaugurated the state's pavilion from the state secretariat through video conference here this evening and said, "We are mainly showcasing and promoting our bamboo made products like glasses, water bottles in the fair aiming to replace the single-use plastic products." The Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways and MSME Nitin Gadkari has inaugurated the fair at Delhi today.
"As PM Modi has banned the use of single-use plastics in the nation, Tripura's bamboo made products which can replace the banned products are expected to attract more and more buyers from the states and abroad," said CM.
"Our main aim is to promote and catch a good market in near future for our incredible products which are mainly made of natural resources like bamboo and rubber," adding to this Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said, "Tripura's queen variety pineapple is also showcased there in the fair."
He said, "This is one of the biggest platforms for us as we will be able to showcase and promote more and more of our products there and attract large number of buyers from different states of the nation and other countries."
Along with rest of the nation and other countries, the NE Tripura also took part in the fair to showcase and promote it's products and promote them so as to grow the state's economy. Tripura has set up 12 of its stalls of various departments including Tripura Bamboo Mission, Tripura Rubber Board, Tripura Khadi Board, Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. and others.
The theme this year is 'Ease of Doing Business'. The first five days of the event are reserved for business. The fair will be open for the general public from the 19th of this month. People can visit the fair from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM.
Several countries, including Australia, Iran, UK, Vietnam, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Egypt, Hong Kong and Indonesia, are participating in the 14-day trade fair.
This year, the status of Partner Country has been accorded to Afghanistan while South Korea will be the focus country.
