Tripura Police role questioned after alleged PWD scam accused fell ill in police remand

The role of Tripura police has always been questioned for its abnormal and negligence act in different occasion. And this been continued despite government's effort in making a model state. Putting yet another series of question over the role of police today, the state's biggest economic scandal of the alleged the then Left front government - Sunil Bhowmik, the former PWD Chief Engineer fell seriously ill due to high blood pressure in the police remand. The additional district court on Saturday sends the accused Mr. Bhowmik to 5 days police remand.

The incident has come up today after Bhowmik is rushed to IGM Hospital as his health situation deteriorated in the police remand. However, he was later referred to GBP Hospital for better treatment.

High blood pressure and sugar patient-Bhowmik's health started worsening since he was arrested and kept in police remand. His health situation deteriorated especially from the day when he was kept in the court lock-up without providing food and insulin and other related medicine since morning till night. This was when the District court was hearing former Minister Badal Chowdhury's bail petition.

Getting an alarm of Bhownik's worsening health situation, the family members including his wife has rushed to hospital and was about to inform the media on some abnormal role of the police which leads her accused husband Mr. Bhowmik shifted to hospital, but then she immediately rushed to reach her ill husband saying to media, "I will let you all know later about what's happening with my husband."

Meantime, while asked about the reason of his deteriorated health situation, accused Sunil Bhowmik was about to reveal the fact, but then he was restricted from speaking to the media inside the hospital while he was in the wheel-chair.

However, series of question rose against the police role so far with this and apart from that, what has been embarrassing the police administration is that, the former minister for PWD Badal Chowdhury who was also accused of his involvement with the alleged scam still remained untraceable by the police. Meantime, major sections of cops including 2 IPS officers are recently suspended from service for failing to nab Mr. Chowdhury.
