Tripura along with rest of the nation on Friday observed the National De-worming day in a befitting manner aiming to reduce the cases of worm infection among kids in the state. Students of age group between 1 to 19 years were administered with the de-worming tablets to mark the day.
The day was marked at different parts of the state. However the Tripura this year has targeted to bring in 1 lakh 35 thousand and 350 children under the coverage of this day.
The state health and family welfare minister Sudip Roy Barman on Thursday last has opened the state level de-worming day programme at Dharmanagar under the North Tripura district.
The aim of this programme is to de-worm all the children from 1 to 19 years and improve their well-being. To run the programme successfully and to achieve the goal, all the school teachers and workers are provided special training and resource material.
It has emerged as world’s largest public health campaign preventing children from intestinal parasitic worms.
