Tripura government has renamed Baramura hills one of the prominent hill range of the state in Kokborok. The hill range will be now known as “Hatai Kutul”. The step has been undertaken to mark Kokborok day 2020 observed today across the state.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb formally announced this at the central observation of the day at Agartala today.
The Chief Minister speaking on the occasion said that this initiative had been taken to show respect toward the language.
"Today as a part of Kokborok day observation, Tripura government has decided, the cabinet has decided to rename Baramura hills - Hatai Kutul. It has been officially announced. Why we have taken this decision. We have taken this decision to show respect to this language and the day. There is the reason behind selecting Baramura too. It is situated in the National Highway 8 which is the lifeline of the state. When it will be in the lifeline entire state even people of the entire country will know about that" Deb added.
The Chief Minister also informed media about a range of issues being chalked out for the development of ADC areas.
He said, "More than Rs 8,000 crore has been sought from the Centre under special package for the ADC area. The central government has put the issue in processing. Apart from this, a historic decision has been taken for settling the Brus permanently in Tripura with a package of Rs 600 crore under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Bhai Shah. This initiative is a big gift for Tripura. Moreover, a private member bill has been placed in the state assembly to increase the seats in ADC up to 50 including three nominated and 3 reserved for women. In addition, 42 departments will be handed over to ADC. Patta lands will be also given to 1,30,000 indigenous people after a proper process of demarcation".
