The Tripura MP Pratima Bhowmik Thursday demanded fund from the centre setting up 2 mini food park apart from the existing Mega food park and said, "Tripura can grow it's economy only when the Food processing unit and agriculture goes hand in hand." She said, "We have a neighbouring country like Bangladesh which has good market to aid Tripura grows its economy."
Bhowmik was addressing a daylong seminar on Emerging Export Opportunities in Food Processing with Bangladesh. The Union Minister for Industry and Food Processing Rameshwar Teli has chaired the seminar held here at Agartala Pragna Bhawan today.
"Bangladesh market can help aid the state of Tripura to grow its economy as a whole. Starting from the bridge over the river Feni, Railway connectivity to Bangladesh to the Special economic zone which is to be completed by 2020 shall help aid Tripura to accelerate the ties with Bangladesh," said Bhowmik.
She said, "The central government has recently brought a relaxation of norms in setting up of Special Economic Zone in Sabroom town in South Tripura district."
Meanwhile, she urged upon the concerned officers of the state industry and commerce department to carry a survey work in setting up of two mini food parks in the state. "The Union government is intended to help aid the state to set up the mini food parks."
Later while explaining the reason for the delay of the opening of Maharaja Bir Bikram International Airport the MP said, "Though it was supposed to open from December 2019, it got delayed as the concerned authority is putting latest technology in this airport."
"The Tripura to soon witness the latest technology installed airport in Agartala MBB international airport which will be the first ever in India," she said.
