Tripura govt. decides to extend SC/ST reservation rule to another 10 years

AGARTALA:

The BJP-IPFT coalition government has decided to extend the existing SC/ST reservation rule to another 10 years, following which the Tripura government has called for an urgent assembly session.

Addressing a press conference here at the civil secretariat on Tuesday evening the state law minister Ratan Lal Nath said, "An urgent assembly session has been called from January 17 to bring an amendment to the existing rules of reservation for Scheduled Cast and Scheduled Tribes."

He said, "Once the bill is passed in the assembly during the urgent session, the cabinet shall give a nod to this and the bill shall be amended accordingly with the consent of the Governor."

Meantime, the BJP lead coalition government in Tripura has decided to bring 1st amendment to the Tripura Industries facilitation Act of 2018. Informing this to the media on Tuesday the state law minister Ratan Lal Nath said, "The cabinet has decided to bring this amendment so as to provide more facilities to the industrialists in the state."

He said, "The amendment shall let the industrialists know the cause of any delay of processing of their applications, penalty of Rs. 1000 per day for the officers who wilfully delay the processing for the industrialists, inclusion of definition of Tripura government's single-window system."  The amendment however includes other facilities for the industrialists which were not included earlier during the enactment of the Act.
