BSF personnel posted at Jaynagar Border outpost located at the city peripheries made a recovery of smuggled gold worth Rs 95 lakh.
In a joint operation of BSF and Customs, one person identified as Jahangir Miah has been arrested from the gate no 86 under the jurisdiction of BOP Jaynagar and recovered 2.267 KGs of gold biscuits which the BSF anticipate would be smuggled to the other part of the fencing.
Reportedly, the accused use to stay in his house in the other side of the border.
Speaking to the media persons, BSF DIG AK Yadav said, most of the people living in and outside the fencing areas are being found active in trans-border smuggling. The BSF is working wholeheartedly to thwart such criminals, he added.
