TRICOS shop inaugurated at Agartala City Centre

AGARTALA:

Tripura gets its first-ever bakery shop that would sell the products made in the bakery unit of Tripura Central Correctional Home, Bishalgarh at City Centre, located in the heart of Agartala City.

Inaugurating the bakery, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma said, “It’s an ambitious step which has been started by Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and Central Jail authorities. The name of the bakery is TRICOS, the official brand of the correctional home. It’s a multipurpose showroom cum bakery. Handicraft products will be also available here.”

“30 percent share of the profit would be shared with the SHG. It’s a pilot project. If this initiative gets successful than we shall spread the business across the state. It will help to generate employment. I have visited the Central Jail here 4 months back and was shocked after being witnessed a beautifully clean and modern bakery ”, Dev Verma added.

Inspector General of Prison, Joydeep Nayak, on the other hand, said, this is a sport bakery jointly by Jail and TRLM. All this bakery item food and handicrafts items were made by the jail inmate.

“To promote the products made by the jail inmates of the central jail here we have open this bakery shop. This sports environment would attract young people. This shop can promote all the handicrafts and other products made by the prisoner. We have a total of 14 jails spread across the state. We are trying to spread this business all over the state. Right now 25 inmates are engaged in this business. Total of 20 items they have made for this bakery. 6 months back we have also installed a model bakery inside the Central Jail”, Nayak add
