To provide quality education 21 new projects in just 23 months of new govt: CM

AGARTALA:

The present government is giving maximum emphasis towards education and to impart quality education 21 new projects were introduced in this sector in just 23 months said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

After inaugurating newly-built building of Kalyanpur Higher Secondary School on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said, that to improve the student’s ability in the competitions in all sectors through providing quality education the state government has taken various initiatives including Super 30, Mission 30-30, introduction of NCERT syllabus and centralized examination paper, teachers’ training, opening of 50 new schools, conversion of 28 Bengali medium schools to English medium, library modernization and change in academic session (from December-January to March-April).

He alleged that the previous government never thought about future of the students rather they destroyed the entire education system and as a result a large section of the students could not cope up with the competition especially when they went out of the state.

In his note on Mission 30-30 scheme, Deb said, “558 officers have been trained and engaged for special coaching of students and inspection in 3882 schools has been completed to assist 21,834 students across the state.”

Addressing the gathering, Deb said, “Earlier it was the responsibility of only the guardians for securing good results of their children but at present it is the duty of the state government as well and thus is taking various steps including teachers’ training, proper monitoring, regular parent-teachers meeting, and various other steps so that the students can get quality education and obtain good marks for a better future. However, the previous government focused more on partisan politics instead of ensuring quality education.”

He added, “The state government is preparing ACR of 40,000 teachers and other staff of the education department. Besides, re-checking is being done in case the teachers already uploaded it through app. Earlier during Left tenure, Melarmath used to prepare the ACR of teachers but there is no political interferences.”

The Chief Minister claimed that the mandays allocation under MGNREGA had increased to 4 crore-- the current average stands at 46 persondays which was only 29 mandays during Left era.

“In Kalyanpur RD Block, 4,32,319 mandays have been generated in the Financial year 2019-20. As many as 337 houses have been sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and 2083 toilets have been sanctioned under Swachcha Bharat Mission. Another 800 toilets have been sanctioned in a different scheme with the support of World Bank,” he said.

The Chief Minister also said that a 30-beded Primary Health Centre (PHC), which is under construction in Kalyanpur at total cost of Rs. 8.72 crore, would start functioning before coming Durga Puja.

He added that beside these a quarter complexes (twelve units) is being constructed in Kalyanpur at cost of Rs. 2.95 crore.

Referring to Ayushman Bharat scheme, the Chief Minister said there are 90 hospitals empanelled with this project in Tripura.

Deb said, “As many as 9,973 Ayushman cards have already been distributed in Kalyanpur alone— the beneficiaries will get free treatment facility up to Rs. 5 lakh. Besides, 2154 farmers’ families have been covered under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme and 5314 beneficiaries have been given LPG connections under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.”

The Chief Minister also stated that his government believes in ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Viswas’ mantra and the deserving people don’t need to demand for, stage protest or attend party rallies-meetings to get any of the benefits under various central or state schemes.

“To provide piped drinking water to every household apart from installing deep tube well at four locations, the state government already took initiatives to prevent erosion of river banks at- Paschim Ghilatali, Kamalanagar, Narayanpur and Kuchpara of Kalyanpur. Besides, two SC-dominated villages in Kalyanpur will be developed as Adarsh Gram,” he added.

Deb said the previous government was anti-development following which the people had to face deprivation for long 25 years. But, the present government is working for improvement in all sectors including Education, healthcare and Industry.

Education Minister Ratanlal Nath and MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury were among other dignitaries who were present in the programme.

Meanwhile, at the inaugural ceremony, the Scouts and Guides of Kalyanpur unit donated funds to the Chief Minister’s relief fund.

Earlier, the Chief Minister also planted a sapling and urged everyone to come forward for planting trees and take care of them for a bright and greener tomorrow.
