Three youth died on spot as a speeding car hit a roadside tree at Manikbhandar under Kamalpur subdivision this evening. According to local sources, a Salema bound private car (TATA Manza bearing a number plate TR-04-B 0779) lost control and hit a roadside tree on its way from Kamalpur.
Three of the passengers Pancham Debnath of Salema, Ashim Debnath and Surajit Das of Kachucherra died on spot. The driver Litan Das came out as the lone survivor of the total four riders. All the dead bodies were taken to Kamalpur hospital.
Police sources said, the bodies will be handed over to their families after postmortem tomorrow. On the other hand, driver Litan Das was referred to GBP hospital following his critical health conditions.
However, regarding the incident, no statements have been issued by the police yet.
