Suspension in supply of coal reduces production of bricks

UDAIPUR:

The owners of brick kilns are suffering from uncertainty for future production due to lack in supply of coal from out of the state.

Information revealed that coal supply stopped from Meghalaya in the state. As a result burning of bricks has not been started at most of the brick kilns. It is suspected that development works by bricks would be stopped in near future.

Meanwhile selling of bricks started at Rs. 14,000 per thousand bricks at Udaipur subdivision. Sources said that price of bricks may increase in days to come. It is well known that brick kilns of the state were functioning depending on coal from Meghalaya. Besides, a small portion of supplied coal was coming from Bihar and Jharkhand states. At present little amount of coal is coming from Bangladesh. As a result many beneficiaries failed to construct their house under PMAY scheme.

Sources said that all 21 brick kilns of Udaipur are suffering from lack of coal. Brick Kiln owners said that bricks were burnt for 5 rounds in previous years. But burning two rounds will be troublesome in this year, they opined.

The kiln owners expected that the State Government would take necessary action to solve the crisis of coal. At the same time common people opined that government should take necessary steps to check the price increase of bricks according to whims of owners. Locals demanded intervention of Chief Minister to solve the problem.
