Over a lakh people are set to learn ways of happiness from Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar from the 18th-20th of this month, in what will be one of the biggest online events. The program will happen simultaneously at the Art of Living International Center in Bengaluru and 2100 other centers across the city where it will be telecast live.
“Stress is when you have too much to do, very little time to do it and no energy to do the task," says Gurudev, "But what you can do is increase your energy. Pranayama(breathing exercises), meditation and SudarshanKriya gives you more energy for the day and makes you more productive.”
The cornerstone of the Happiness Program is the Sudarshan KriyaTM, a powerful rhythmic breathing technique cognized by Gurudev. This unique breathing technique eliminates stress, fatigue and negative emotions such as anger, frustration and depression, leaving one calm yet energized, focused yet relaxed.
According to a vast body of research on the effects of Sudarshan KiryaTM including work done at prestigious medical institutes like AIIMS and NIMHANS, regular practice of SKY has the following benefits and more both at the mental as well as physical level –
• Reduced heart rate and blood pressure
• Significant reductions in anxiety , including a 71% to 73% response rate and 41% remission rate in individuals for whom medication and psychotherapy treatments had failed.
•patients of depression who learned SKY experienced a 68-73% remission rate within one month.
• 3x more time spent in deep restful stages of sleep
• Improved immune cell counts in 12 weeks (Natural Killer Cells)
• Improved respiratory function: where respiration rate dropped by 5% in 1 week and 15% in 12 weeks and lung (vital) capacity increased.
The entire country, right from Arunachal and Tripura in the North-East to flood-affected Gujarat and Jammu to Andaman will join the wave of happiness. Premier institutes like IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, AIIMS will host the program, as will the naxal belt in Chattisgarh.
