Aiming to reduce and cut road accidents, the state traffic department is all set to install speed laser guns to count the over speeding vehicles and impose punishment against it. This Laser gun will soon ‘shoot’ vehicles traveling above the speed limit on the highways and especially on the accident-prone areas in Agartala and other parts.
This device will also transmit the images to the control room for penalties and other punishments to follow.
However, informing about the device on Wednesday evening the Traffic SP Pinaki Samanta said, "A total of 4 Nos. of such devices shall be procured with the one that has already been brought to trial run touches the identified parameters." He said, "This is to take stock of enough proof against the violators who over speed their vehicle."
He hoped that this device shall bring control over the over speeding which stands as the main cause of road accidents.
The laser guns, which will be installed at different parts of the capital town as part of the pilot project, will detect the speed of every vehicle passing through on both sides. Each gun can zoom in on the number plate of a vehicle from nearly 500 meters away.
