The Agartala Smart City Mission, in order to maintain better city functioning and inclusive watch in almost all the sensitive areas of the city, has installed 22 PTZ (Point Tilt Zoom) CCTV cameras across the city. The main motive of installing the cameras is to keep a constant watch on the city areas so that emergency services can be availed at the earliest while in need, a top official said today.
The official who asked to remain anonymous also said, the move will ensure better functioning of the city ensuring facilities to get delivered in need and will also enable law enforcement agencies to access the real-time location of any law and order issue if emerges.
“This is for the first time in the entire North-Eastern region such state of the art technology is being engaged to enhance the city surveillance system in Agartala. The Agartala Smart City Mission is far ahead of other smart city projects in progress throughout the NE region with its speedy advancement in all the sectors”, the official said.
There are, he said, altogether 442 CCTV cameras to get installed in and around the city along with 22 PTZs. The normal cameras are only recording the footage. On the other hand, the PTZs have an in-built self-adaptive system to alert the operators. The entire process will be motioned online once the remaining technical works are done, he added.
The entire camera has been designed in such a way that it can detect any kind of situation, which is not normal according to its programming. “Suppose some law and order problem appears with some kind of accident, or some kind of gathering, the formation of crowd etc.; the cameras will easily detect those situations and the integrated command and control room (ICCR) will be alerted accordingly so that concerned departments can take preemptive measures”, the official said.
The cameras have been installed in some of the key locations of the city which are also sensitive in nature such as civil secretariat, prominent crossroads etc.
