To encourage and further develop the traditional life and culture of the 19 tribes in the state, the BJP lead coalition government in Tripura has planned to set up a cultural hub in the North East region of the country.
Claiming this to also promote cultural unity among the northeastern states, the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today said that the ambitious cultural hub, a first of its kind will be set up at Agartala soon at a cost of Rs. 200 crore sanctioned from the 15th finance commission.
While addressing the ‘Milan Mela’ at Kumarghat Fatikroy HS School the Chief Minister said, “Tripura government is committed to revive the cultural activities in the society across the state which was vanished during the Left era. Rs. 350 crore has been sanctioned for different cultural activities in Tripura.”
Meantime, the Chief Minister today praised the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, "PM Modi has discovered the personalities like Thanga Darlong of Unakoti district and another Beni Chandra Jamatia of Gomati district of the state and accorded them with the Padma Shri award." He said, "It is only the PM Modi who is committed to give more exposure to the North East region of this country which is rich in culture."
The Chief Minister however also talked tough against the previous Left front government the Chief Minister today said, "The Left front during their era has not only harmed the cultural heritage of this state but also ruined the education system." He said, "Due to lack of quality education during the Left era the students could hardly pass the board examinations."
