Road blockade by villagers on demand of water

UDAIPUR:

The villagers of Tingharia staged a road blockade at Maharani – Udaipur National Highway on demand of drinking water in the village. On being informed two local BJP leaders Amal Sarkar and Rafik Mia rushed to the spot and contacted with DWS department and MLA Biplab Kumar Ghosh. Police also arrived there.

Later the villagers agreed to withdraw the blockade on the basis of assurance to provide drinking water by DWS authority and intervention of police.

Sources said that 22 tribal families are inhabitant of Tingharia village. But the villagers of deprived of drinking water from the period of Left Front. They have been applying for supply of drinking water from the period of previous government and also applied for the same to the panchayat of present government. But they failed to get any response.

The local women said, all the children of the village are suffering from water born diseases and skin disease as they are bound to drink water from cherra and waterfalls of stone.
