Though, the state government is putting impetus on the connectivity, there are few rural hamlets left with no appropriate roadways to connect with the highways. Similar was the experience in Kadamtala under North Tripura district and Gandacherra-Raisyabari road under Dhalai district, two far-away places but with a kin plight of commuters.
Reportedly, the road that connect Kadamtala market, perhaps the biggest market in the bordering North Tripura district, has no proper roadway to connect with rest of the district. The condition of the existing road is so precarious that commuters are facing difficulty in passing the roads even in the dry seasons. With every monsoon, the gravity of problem deepens.
The PWD department has been pleaded more than once to restore the road but in vain. The locals alleged the authorities have turned a deaf eye to their requests and threatened of organizing larger movement demanding their access.
On the other hand, our Gandacherra correspondent added, the vehicular activities between Raisybari and Gandacheraa come to a standstill due to precarious condition of the only road that connects both the areas. Reportedly, the 28 killometer road has been specified for restoration by the PWD department five years back. But, less than 50 percent of the works have completed in these years. Deep potholes and mud make the curvy road more dangerous even after a spell of drizzle or two.
