Newly elected Member of the Parliament Pratima Bhowmik demanded intercity railway connectivity between Agartala, Silchar and Guwahati to improve transportation more easy-going in the North Eastern states. Moreover she had also discussed the issues related to railway connectivity between Tripura and Bangladesh.
Speaking to the media persons today at the state headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party, she said, during the meeting with Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyel, I requested him to connect the main cities of the North Eastern states with railway connectivity, at least one express every day. I have also urged the Minister to speed up the process of connecting Tripura with Bangladesh through railways.
The Minister, she added, had told me that altogether Rs 968 crore have been allotted for the project of Bangladesh-Tripura railway connectivity. Railway links will be established through Akahura border, a proposal has been sent for railway links through Belonia and Chattagram as it is going to be connected with Tripura through waterways soon, she told the media.
Speaking on the tourism, Pratima said, we are planning to put more emphasis on the unexplored tourist destinations of the state. In Sepahijala district, she continued, there is more than enough destination for tourist attraction. Starting from Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary and Neermahal, there are many places like Maikrasa para, Chandir, Botolbhanga Bhavanipur Panikata lake and Boxanagar having prospects for tourism. We are planning to form co-operatives and outsource tourism experts for upgradation of a tourism circuit in Sepahijala district, she added.
She also informed the media that soon an orientation programme is set to be held in the state regarding food processing industries where experts from Delhi would train state’s people.
