Political tension at Raisyabari, 13 injured; NC pays visits Gandacherra

A day after the sporadic clashes between BJP and IPFT supporters at Gandacherra centering ransacking of BJP MP’s residence yet another of violent conflict between the supporters BJP and IPFT left as many as 12 supporters from both the parties seriously injured.

According to local sources, supporters of Bharatiya Janata Party arranged a victory rally today to celebrate the poll victory of the party in the just concluded parliamentary elections. In the course of celebration, some of the enthusiastic BJP supporters started bursting fire crackers in the market when some of the IPFT supporters came out in protest and tried to resist them from lighting crackers in the market premises. Gradually, the verbal dwell took a turn of heated exchange of words and later fistfights.

Getting informed police officials of Raisyabari police station rushed to the spot and took control of the situation. The vehement confrontation left as much as 12 supporters of both the parties injured. On the other hand, aggrieved by the situation, BJP unit of Gandacherra organized a protest rally at Gandacherra in order to make a strong statement against the incident.

Meanwhile, IPFT supremo NC Debbarma also paid visit to the violence affected families of IPFT supporters this morning. Speaking to the media persons, he said, this issue will be discussed in the Central Executive meeting today and strict call will be taken from the part of the party.  

However, entire Gandacherra sub-division has been put under extensive security net. Huge contingents of police, TSR and CRPF jawans were deployed to thwart any untoward incident.
