The self-employment tailoring training programme under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) in Tripura has brought a ray of hope for the reang refugees in the state popularly known or called as ‘Brus’ and smile to many.
A placement drive under the PMKVY scheme was held here on Wednesday for the Brus who have already pursued training in the centre of Tripura Welfare Society at Nutan Nagar.
In an aim to provide a special focus to the Brus in Tripura the centre eyes to provide training to 300 unemployed persons of Special Bru Tribe refugees all over the state.
A refugee who is being placed a in A private company of garments making in Coimbatore today expressed pleasure over this and said, “We have first entered the Tripura’s Khachkang and Kachkao area of Dhamcherra Block crossing the Mizoram border in the year 1997.”
She said, "I am happy that I succeed getting placement there which I have never thought for before, but now that I got a chance to work for someone, I hope others like me would come forward and go for training under PMKVY."
The project has been developed to make the unemployed youths of Bru Refugee Camp self sufficient and to provide them placement under PMKVY phase –II.
The centre is currently providing 8 hours training per day on self tailoring including theory and practical classes with soft skill. Project Coordinator of TWRS Manabendra Nag executed the entire programme.
However, with initiative of Valuer Febtex Pvt Ltd and financial assistance of NSDCL under PMKVY of Ministry of Skill Development the training centre at Nutan Nagar kicked off its journey of providing training with a special focus to the Reang refugees from this year.
