Over 10 lakh children in Tripura to be brought under Measles and Rubella immunization from Sept 15

AGARTALA:

The Tripura government is all set to launch mass scale Measles and Rubella (MR) immunization program across the state from September 15 for a month to vaccinated more than 10 lakh children age group between nine months and 15 years.

A workshop was held at Agartala Sukanta Academy auditorium on the role of media towards immunizing Measles and Rubella (MR) in the state.

Dr. Maulik Shah Health Officer, UNICEF while addressing the gathering of journalist and other section today said that MR vaccine would be provided free of cost in the schools, social institutions and other facilitation centers across the state as per the mission to eliminate measles and control rubella disease by 2020 in India.

Meantime, the Director of Health J K Debbarma who remained present in the programme today highlighted the importance of the MR immunization programme.

According to the national immunization goals, India has planned to eliminate measles and control congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) caused by the rubella virus by 2020.
