In two separate incidents of road mishap one died and two others injured seriously today. The first incident took place when one person was crossing national highway in front of a Maruti van loaded with Congress workers who were on the way to Rahul Gandhi’s rally at Khumulwng.
The incident took place at Gokulpur at Udaipur near Sashriji Sangha when the Maruti van (TR 04C-0286) was carrying Congress supporters from Gandacherra towards Khumulwng. The person named Pramod Bihari Debnath (48) dashed by the car when he was crossing the road. As a result Debnath injured seriously and shifted to Gomati District Hospital. Immediately the doctors referred him to G.B. Hospital.
In a separate incident one person Narayan Chakraborty (47) in drunken condition knocked down one woman Alorani Mallik (50) by his bike when the woman was standing beside the road on the way to Garji. Later the biker was dashed with an electric post and he died on the spot. On being informed Fire Service from Udaipur rushed to the spot and rescued the woman in injured condition and the dead biker who were shifted to Gomati District Hospital. Later police from R.K. Pur Police Station detained the Maruti and the bike.
