The Tripura government on Thursday said that the law and order situation in the state is "absolutely normal" and no mosque has been burnt there. It also warned the public against engaging in rumour-mongering and appealed to maintain peace. The police’s statement came two days after a mosque was allegedly vandalized during a Vishwa Hindu Parishad rally in Chamtilla in Panisagar sub-division of North Tripura district.
In a press communiqué, the government stated, “Some anti-national elements are spreading fake news and rumour by using fake ID on Twitter and Facebook. The pictures used to spread this kind of fake news and rumour on social media have no connection with the incident of Panisagar.”
“It is worth mentioning that no incident of fire at mosque took place during the protest rally at Panisagar of North Tripura district on October 25. The Tripura police administration has informed that the law and order situation is normal in the state,” stated the press communiqué.
IGP, Tripura police, Saurabh Tripathi said, the pictures being used to spread such fake news and rumour may relate to some other countries. Police is probing into the as to who has uploaded this. He has appealed to the people of the state to ignore such fake news and pictures.
He informed, case has been registered in this regard and legal action will be taken again whoever has done it. Some people with vested interest are trying to disturb the communal peace in the state. The state government has requested the people of the state to co-operate in maintaining law and order and peaceful environment and appealing to maintain communal harmony the state.
