As the ADC elections of the state are drawing nearer day by day, the political equations, specifically in the regional parties, are getting clearer with new realignments strategies being put forth.
Though no official news has been confirmed, NCT (National Council of Twiprah) supremo Animesh Debbarma is all set to join the INPT—his earlier party, with his entire support base. IPFT Twipra faction is also likely to follow the same, in order to give the INPT (Indigenous Nationalist Front of Twipra) a strong enough shape before the ADC elections.
Speaking to this reporter, a party insider said, a meeting has been convened where the issue will be discussed thoroughly in the presence of the party functionaries and top brass of both the parties. If everything falls in the right direction, a formal announcement will be tomorrow itself.
On being asked whether the NCT top brass would be inducted in the state unit of the party or not, sources in the party said, not immediately but everyone will be respected as per the merit.
“The issue of new state committee will be discussed on the state conference of the party scheduled on April 08-09. There are possibilities of elevating party General Secretary Jagadish Debbarma to the post of party president and Animesh will be offered the post of party General Secretary—the second in command as per the party guidelines” said a highly placed source in the condition of anonymity.
Notably, the party has already hinted of its poll issues though a number demonstrations staged at different parts of the state. “ILP, direct funding to ADC, Kokborok in 8th schedule and filling up vacant ST posts are the crucial issues that will be projected in the ensuing polls along with CAA. But, there may be some more inclusions which will be decided in the meeting slated on April next” said the sources.
Notably, Animesh served as INPT MLA in the year of 2003 to 2008 and was expelled due to some internal bickering, then only he floated his own party—the NCT.
