Micro-Finance’s coercive show, roof pulled out after failing to repay loan

AGARTALA:

In an unprecedented incident, officials of a local microfinance company, worst of its coercive attempt, confiscated the roofs of a beneficiary after the octogenarian failed to pay installments.

Reportedly, the officials of “Satin Credit Care” pulled out the roofs of the house of one Binata Kanda, a resident of Kalachari area of Kamalpur. The beneficiary, reportedly took a loan of Rs 25,000 from the credit agency and maintained to repay her installments in time till the 14th one. But somehow, she failed to pay the 15th installment of her loan leading to such an unprecedented incident.

According to the locals, Binata Kanda is a brick kiln worker. She used to stay with her daughter in the area. The house she was residing was also built under Prime Minister Awas Yojana. The loan was taken by the Sandhya Kanda, daughter of Binata.

Now question arises as to how private organization can show such a coercive attempt. Binata and her daughter are now homeless and had taken shelter to the locals.

A complaint has been filed with the local sub-divisional magistrate office in this regard. SDM Sushnta Kar assured of an in-depth inquiry in this matter.
