Left-aligned Students' body in Tripura protest JNU attack

AGARTALA:

The Left-aligned students' body in Tripura on Monday showed protest against the JNU attack and blamed the Union Home Minister Amit Shah slogging 'Amit Shah must resign'. The agitators demanded the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah for “failing to protect” students.

A group of students from Left-aligned student bodies, including Students Federation of India (SFI), Tribal Students Union (TSU), All India Students Federation (AISF) and All India Youth Federation (AIYF) held a demonstration in front of Agartala City Centre Monday evening.
Opposition leader Manik Sarkar’s wife and social worker Panchali Bhattacharjee, human rights activist also an advocate Purushottam Roy Barman, and several others joined the agitation to protest the attack.

"This is absolutely an inhuman attack upon the students of JNU," adding to this Panchali Bhattacharjee said, "This is a dastardly attack by ABVP. Some masked people entered, like terrorists, girls hostels, assaulted students, teachers and created havoc inside JNU."
She said, "This is RSS, BJP-sponsored violence because they can’t tolerate free-thinking in universities."

"We demand the Home Minister to resign from his post as he completely failed to ensure security to the students in JNU like education institutions."

Meantime, the congress backed National Students' Union of India (NSUI) in Tripura also condemned the attack and blamed the central government on this.
