About 1000 vehicles stranded on National Highway in between Pecharthal and Kumarghat since morning today due to land slide on the road as a result of incessant rain since last night. The National Highway was closed till 12 p.m. today.
Consequently passengers from out of the state and Agartala were trapped at both sides of the landslide for six to seven hours. Annoyed at the way they were forced to spent long hours on the road they strongly expressed resentment for administrative inaction. The administrative authority took initiative to clear the road at 12 p.m.
Sources said that small vehicles and passenger buses could pass after partial clearance of the land slip in the afternoon. But the goods carrier trucks are still trapped at both sides of the landslide.
