As soon as the weather-good seemed to have smiled after a spell of frequent rains, hoppers thronged the Chaturdash Devata temple incessantly from this evening.
The traditional Kharchi Puja and festival started on Wednesday last but harsh weather condition devastated the arrangements. The footfalls of people was also recorded all time low this years, as most of the routes connecting the temple with the city remained waterlogged since the beginning of the festival.
“Yesterday was the last day when, we the traders have seen some people coming over here. Today, the rush of people increased from yesterday. The business also picking up steadily” said a trader.
On the other hand, people appeared pleased of the good weather conditions.
“On Wednesday, we came to Agartala but unfortunately due to bad weather could not visit the temple. After a wait of five days we get the chance to come. Thanks to the good weather” said one Kakali Chakraborty, who came to Kharchi with her in-laws all the way Amarpur.
Speaking to this correspondent, one of members of the organizing committee said, good weather appeared as a sigh of relief for us. At last the number of footfalls is increasing but the weather forecast is still against us. The organizing committee is working hard so that none of traders incur losses.
