Kanchanjangha likely to be extended up-to Sabroom

AGARTALA:

The North East Frontier Railways seemed to have taken a preliminary decision that would surely strengthen state’s position in the railway map. According to sources, though it is yet to decided officially, the railways have planned to extend the torture Kanchanjangha Express.

The express that connects Agartala with Kolkata will, very soon, connect Sabroom, the last most township in the railway reach with Bengal capital. Sources said, an official seal in the papers is yet to come but most of the preliminary works have been done already.

On the other hand, DEMU services are also slated to begin within a short period of time. “The Agartala-Sabroom passenger train services are going to begin very shortly. But as the model code of conduct has been imposed ahead of the by-elections on Badharghat Assembly constituency where the Agartala Railway station falls, the process got delayed” a highly placed source in the department said.

Most probably the express train will start functioning from Sabroom once the DEMU services were started. It has some complications. Before starting express services some precautionary measures are needed to be taken. And, this we are discussing as to how the process could be started in no time, the sources added.
